Check your mind
When it comes to stress and feeling overwhelmed in life, the issue is often about what the stress is derived from.
In many cases it's not your kids or your daily life or any of the day-to-day stuff - because all of that is manageable when you are feeling good about yourself, your life, your choices, your purpose.
What's missing, when that day-to-day stuff feels overwhelming, is a moment (just a minute even) to nurture yourself in a way that keeps the messages from your mind in balance - from taking over.
From that place of imbalance, that is created when you don't take the time to look after yourself in small ways, comes a disparity between how you want your life to be and how it is.
When there are disconnections between the "reality" and the wish – that’s when things get messy.
It also comes from how you tell yourself it is - the role of your mind (neither your friend nor your enemy - but something in between!) is key to how you explain your ability to cope, or how you tell the story of your life and its challenges.
What is your story about your life? Is it a balanced view ie do you let in the positive parts as well as the negative? Is it more neutral than one extreme or the other? Are you telling the full story or just the negative parts (and repeating those over and over again until all you can see is negative)?
Check-in with the noise in your head. What's it saying? Where's that leading?
